Turner Ashby's Justin Smith Defends Indoor State AA Shot Put Championship
Shatters Indoor AA Shot Put Record
Congratulations to Justin Smith, a senior at Turner Ashby High School, on defending his 2007 Indoor State AA Shot Put title by winning the 2008 Indoor State AA championship with a record-setting throw of 56' 11". By more than a foot, he shattered the existing AA indoor event record of 55' 6 1/4".
TAHS Head Indoor Track Coach, Terry Anderson, commends Justin on his personal successes as well as his valuable contributions to the team, "Justin has worked hard to accomplish the goals that he has set for himself. He has put the time in the weight room and in the circle in order to achieve success. He has also served as a mentor for the younger throwers in helping them to better themselves in the sport."
Justin is the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Smith of Dayton.
