National Scholastic Press Association

Best of Yearbook Sports

For thirteen years, the acclaimed National Scholastic Press Association has published a soft-cover book called Best of High School Press. As NSPA states in the preface,”If your work is in this book, we congratulate you.”

For the first time, BHS made the cut in “Best of Yearbook Sports,” one of 16 yearbooks in the entire U.S.

VHSL 2007 Writing/Photography/Design Journalism Contest Results

A total of 578 examples of outstanding scholastic journalism - writing, photography and design - were recognized in VHSL’s 2007 competition for magazine, newspaper, and yearbook journalists. They were selected from entries submitted by 34 different student publications. Judging in the first round was based on meeting standards for outstanding journalism. Then the top five entries were ranked on the basis of quality in each category by a different VHSL group of judges.

Certificates of achievement were presented at a luncheon at the VHSL Championship Journalism Workshop on October 27.

BHS was represented in three divisions-yearbook, literary magazine, and newspaper/magazine, but each of these includes its own categories:
