Challenge Teacher Attend S.T.E.M. Conference in Richmond

ChallengeRCPS Superintendent, Dr. Carol Fenn, and Elementary Challenge teachers, Bobbie Arbogast (LSES, JCMES), Heather Cherry (MVES), Linda Doherty (EES, RBES), Linda Harpine (FRES, OES, LEES), Charlotte Holter (JWES), Krista Miller (MES, SRES, PVES), Sue Porter (CRES), and Del Taylor (PKVES, PES) recently attended the 15th Annual Virginia Children's Engineering Convention in Richmond.

While there, they attended workshops on the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) instruction in K-12 education. Many noted professionals in the fields of engineering and education shared their insights into STEM education including Gerard Robinson, the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Charlotte Holter facilitated a session entitled "Sharing Session: Questions and Answers about Children's Engineering." Linda Harpine gave a workshop called "Children's Engineering: The Basics." Bobbie Arbogast and Heather Cherry presented "Linking Thinking: STEM and Language Arts."
