JOB TITLE: Textbook/ Instructional Materials Courier

 

LOCATION: Media Center

Supervisor of Media Services

 

PAY SCALE: Custodian

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

 

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Assists Media Center staff in providing, collecting, and distributing to schools textbooks and related media materials.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to follow oral and written directions to maintain records, inventories, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent travel between the schools within the division. Candidate must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license with the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license. Candidate must be able to meet the criteria for the approved Rockingham County Public Schools driving list. Frequent operation of county owned vehicles is required to travel to schools throughout the division, administrative building, and central office.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Work is typically performed walking, standing, or driving. This work includes, but not limited to stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing (ladders within media center), pulling, and lifting. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to approximately 25 pounds frequently and up to approximately 75 pounds occasionally. Work is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, noise, road conditions and hazards. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The ability to coordinate and prioritize work activity, handle complaints, communicate effectively, and work with limited supervision.

 

EVALUATION

The Supervisor of Media Services will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
