POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE: Parts Manager

 

LOCATION: Bus Garage

 

JOB CATEGORY: Classified

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Director of Transportation,

Garage Supervisor

 

PAY SCALE: Mechanic & Supplement

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Maintains inventory, purchasing, and issuing parts to garage personnel engaged in maintenance of School Board owned vehicles.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following tasks/functions:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to follow oral and written directions and maintain detailed records and inventories. Must have the ability to work cooperatively with others.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and prior successful experience in managing parts is desirable.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess a valid Virginia Commercial Drivers License with Air Brake, School Bus and Passenger Endorsements. Candidate must possess good moral character.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties performed in a variety of settings such as but not limited to the division bus garage, parts room, and surrounding environment. Physical activities are required, such as but not limited to kneeling, reaching, stooping, climbing stock room ladders, frequent walking, standing, lifting, up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds may be required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. The environment also exposes the employee to potentially hazardous substances and high noise levels.

 

EVALUATION

The Director of Transportation will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
