GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

 

Provides leadership in assigned instructional area(s) that facilitates a positive learning environment for staff and students.  Coordinates a comprehensive educational foundation to support Rockingham County Public Schools.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Ability to communicate effectively, provides leadership to diverse groups, prioritize workload, and work with little supervision.  Must possess thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures.  Excellent organizational, strong written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills required.  Candidate must possess a Postgraduate Professional License.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to provide own transportation to school-related functions, community businesses, and schools throughout the division. Frequent operation office equipment is required. Candidate must possess good moral character.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties are typically performed in school settings including central office and schools within the division.  Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Frequent operation of a vehicle and office equipment is required.  Regular and frequent contact is made at all organizational levels for the purpose of developing and achieving organizational goals and missions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work. Frequent contact with staff members, community members, and administration is required.

 

EVALUATION

The Assistant Superintendent of Instruction will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
