JOB TITLE:

Computer Lab Assistant

 

LOCATION: All Elementary & Middle Schools Within Division

 

JOB CATEGORY: Classified

Principal

 

PAY SCALE: Instructional Assistant

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Serves as an on-site assistant for assigned school’s instructional lab. Performs responsible para-professional, clerical and human support work, assisting in student management and computer instructional tasks; does related work as required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Candidates must possess the ability to work effectively with students; basic knowledge of student instruction and management practices, procedures, and techniques; general knowledge of or the ability to become familiar with P.C. maintenance and operations; ability to guide, direct, and manage students; ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators; ability to operate computer keyboard.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development Certificate (GED).

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess a willingness to learn how to use instructional software and hardware. Candidate must have the ability to work well with faculty members and students and possess a good moral character.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties performed typically in school settings to include: computer lab(s), library, and classrooms. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visual equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities may be required. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Occasional attendance to building-level meetings, and division wide meetings and training activities outside normal assigned hours may be necessary. Daily personal close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with staff members and administrations is required. Contact with parents and medical professional may be required.

 

EVALUATION

The building administrator(s) will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
