August, 2009

Dear Parents,

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I look forward to another year as Principal of Fulks Run Elementary School. Wow!!! The 2008-2009 was a great year and I expect this year to be just as great. I have found that each member of the FRES community cares about the success of our students. This support continues to allow us to provide programs, assemblies, and field trips that promote the education of our children. Additionally, the staff is one that establishes classroom environments that are caring and nurturing while maintaining high academic standards for each of their students. Evidence of the high academic standard can be seen in the student success with the Virginia Standards of Learning.

I want to say “Thank You” to you all for the success of the past year! As we prepare to begin a new year our challenges will continue to be great. We will meet them head on by working as a team. As we begin to shift from the reflections of last year to the challenges of the 2009-2010 school year I would like to say a special welcome to the newest members of our FRES team. The following individuals are joining an outstanding staff and I know that their individual talents will add support and strength to our team. Rene Rhodes is joining us as the TLC Reading Specialist, Amy Ruebke will be our new librarian, Charity Short will be working in kindergarten, Emily Hahn will teach third grade, Jodie Anderson will be our speech teacher, Rebecca Tyson will be the new assistant with the PreK program, Alison Mann is a new kindergarten assistant and Jean Runion will be driving the bus in the Runions Creek area.

I look forward to continuing working with you. We will be calling on you to assist in a variety of ways. We cannot continue to be successful without the community members who volunteer, tutor, make donation and assist with fundraiser. Please also remember that I welcome your comments and concerns about the school and your child.  Feel free to call or come by my office.  Best wishes for 2009-2010!

Sincerely,

C. David Wenger
