RCPS Employee Purchase Plan - 2012

Again this year RCPS employees may purchase personal laptops, iPads, desktops, printers, etc. through a payroll deduction plan developed through DuPont Community Credit Union. The window of opportunity for this program closes on Friday, August 31, 2012 so pay attention to the following details:

• Items are available from Apple and Dell and are like those technologies already found in RCPS classrooms and offices.

• The maximum amount which may be financed through this program is $3,000.

• The program is open to all RCPS full-time employees.

• Participants will select to have the loan payment deducted from their paychecks over a 10 month (September 2012 - June 2013) or 22 month (September 2012 - June 2014) period.

• The interest rate is 3.99% except for those employees who open a checking account (or already have one with DCCU and have not participated in the program in previous years) and elect to have their paychecks directly deposited with DuPont Community Credit Union for which the interest rate will be 0%.  Those who elect to have their paychecks directly deposited with DCCU will also receive a $25 iTunes gift card.

• To participate, employees must be a member of DCCU or become a member by opening a savings account with a minimum deposit of $25 (This is your ownership share in the credit union).

• Items in this program are offered, for the most part, at a savings over normal consumer prices.

• All orders must be placed and paperwork must be signed by Friday, August 31, 2012.

• Payroll deduction will begin with the September 2012 paychecks.

• Employees who terminate service with Rockingham County Schools prior to the completion of their loan period agree to have the balance deducted from their final paycheck.

• Equipment setup and maintenance are the responsibility of the participant, not the RCPS Technology Staff.

• Participants can use the DuPont Community Credit Union online calculator to calculate their monthly payment by clicking here. Enter the annual percentage rate as 3.99 and the loan period as 10 or 22 months. Set the federal and state tax rates to 0, then click on "see your results."

• Can products be ordered from more than one vendor? Yes, just as long as the grand total doesn't exceed $3,000.

• Can products be ordered for other family members using this plan, such as a child going to college? Yes

• Can RCPS install Microsoft Office on a home computer purchased under this program? No, Microsoft does not allow this. The Academic version of MS Office can be purchased online from Academic Superstore for under $150.

• Can I purchase technology items on this program with a credit card instead of through payroll deduction? Yes
