Third grade is a transitional year for students at Elkton Elementary School. We believe each student is an individual with his/her own needs and learning style. We work with the student at his/her instructional level, working toward each student becoming a more independent and responsible learner.Students will use more textbooks and have more homework than in previous years. The students become excited about the Accelerated Reader Program, multiplication tables, and cursive writing. We are proud of our Elkton history unit that not only involves the student, but families and the entire community. The students learn about their heritage and we all gain an even greater sense of pride for being a part of the Elkton community.
Third grade is a state testing year for the Standards of Learning (S.O.L.).The students and teachers work hard all year to review skills learned in K-2 and learn the new third grade skills. With students, teachers, and parents working together, our students have done very well with these important tests.
