Information

Library Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Backpacks must be left inside the doors of the library.

Food and drink is not allowed in the library.

Students may reserve books that are checked out.

The library houses a collection of over 9500 books, subscribes to 33 magazines, and maintains excellent vertical file and videotape libraries.

All students visiting the library must have a pass from their teacher. If the students visits the library during a study hall, students must get library passes from a library staff member prior to the 8:24 bell.

Collection and Loan Periods

Overdue/fine notices are distrubuted weekly to 5th period teachers.

Technology and Database Links

21 computers are available for student use. Personal printing is available at a cost of $.10 per page.

Students are expected to follow the RCPS Acceptable Use Policy.

The library's computer network offers a computerized library catalog, word processing, Internet access, and 3 online databases:
Grolier Encyclopedia: 3 different encyclopedias with varying degrees of difficulty
Ebsco Magazines Online: Magazine articles from over 320 magazines dating from 1990 to current.
SIRS (Social Issues Resource Series): Newspapers and magazine articles on various topics.

Information Literacy Defined

The ability to find, select, analyze, and communicate information from a wide variety of print, non-print, and electronic resources.
